Photo Retouching and Photo Restoration: What's the Difference?

Throughout my career as a photo retoucher, I see and hear these terms used interchangeably.

Retouching is a general term describing any changes made to a photo, including color-correction and manipulation. The term is generally understood as something an artist does to make a photograph look better.

Restoration is a specific state of retouching—which includes color correction—to make a damaged photograph look like it did when it was originally printed. So restoration is a sub-category of retouching.

What's your opinion?
